The RTX 5090 tops €10,000 in Greece

NVIDIA's graphics cards are getting sharply more expensive, and the flagship GeForce RTX 5090 has become almost unattainable. Techmaniacs writes that its price has soared by as much as 370% compared with its launch price. In the US it exceeds $10,000, and in Greece €10,000.

TechSpot's research, cited by the same article, puts the cheapest RTX 5090 versions in the US at a starting price of $9,000. The average price of the RTX 5080 rose 36% in a month. In Germany, Australia, the Philippines and the Netherlands, the increase compared with September exceeded 40%.

The Techmaniacs writer also gives a personal example from the Greek market. An RTX 5070 he bought in January 2026 for €600 now costs €1,100 at the same store.

The whole RTX 50 series caught in the same spiral

The problem doesn't stop at expensive models. According to TechSpot, in the US the RTX 5070 Ti rose 67% and the RTX 5070 64%. For the RTX 5080, increases reach 120% in the US market and about 77% worldwide.

Budget cards aren't spared either. The RTX 5050, with 8GB of memory, reached $420 in the US, up 68%. Worldwide, its increase currently stands at 41%. Techmaniacs considers such prices for an entry-level card unjustifiable by any logic.

What is coming in China and who is to blame

A new wave of increases is on the way, according to China's ChannelGate, as relayed by Digital Life. NVIDIA's partners (AIC partners), which build and sell cards, have already been notified of price changes within the current week. Colorful and Galax are reported to have started notifying customers. Consumers may see the new prices in stores with a delay of one to two weeks.

Digital Life stresses that the increases concern the Chinese market and are not a confirmed announcement for international markets. For now they do not affect other NVIDIA series or products from AMD and Intel. AMD, however, is reportedly planning Radeon increases in November.

As the cause, Techmaniacs points to the tight production of memory chips, particularly the new GDDR7. Manufacturers are reserving most production lines for AI data centers, and the consumer PC market is left with little stock. Digital Life adds the higher cost of raw materials such as copper, and demand exceeding supply for some models.

If the reports are confirmed, Digital Life writes, upgrading a PC will become even harder, especially with the most powerful GPUs.
